International Workshop on Bioinformatics and society, perspectives and current trends in bioinformatics (BSPTB)

The creation of a sustainable world depends on the government’s ability to utilize advanced technologies and resources in an intelligent and integrated manner to achieve socially and environmentally viable economic growth.

The workshop “Bioinformatics and Society: Perspectives and Current Trends” aims to explore the intersection of bioinformatics and societal issues. Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that combines biology, computer science, statistics, and engineering to analyze and interpret biological data. The workshop will address the ethical, social, and cultural implications of bioinformatics research and applications in the context of sustainability.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in lively debates and explore potential solutions to the complex ethical and social challenges of using machine learning and AI in bioinformatics research. By attending, SSCt2023 attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the potential benefits and risks of using these technologies in bioinformatics research, and how they can be leveraged to promote sustainable development and social justice. The workshop will also provide a valuable opportunity for participants to network and collaborate with other sustainability professionals, bioinformatics experts, and machine learning practitioners.

The workshop will have several goals, including:

  • To provide an overview of the current trends in bioinformatics and their contributions to the development of sustainable societies.
  • To discuss the ethical challenges and opportunities associated with bioinformatics research and applications.
  • To identify the artificial intelligence (AI) implications of bioinformatics research and applications.

The workshop will feature presentations and discussions from leading experts in bioinformatics, ethics, and sustainability, as well as practical examples of how bioinformatics is being used in real-world sustainability applications.

The workshop will focus on several key issues, including:

  • Ethical considerations in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of bioinformatics data.
  • The role of bioinformatics in personalized medicine and precision health: challenges and opportunities.
  • The use of bioinformatics in the development of novel therapies and drugs.
  • The intersection of bioinformatics and environmental sustainability: using genomics and proteomics to address environmental challenges and advance sustainable development.
  • The impact of bioinformatics on agriculture and food production: using genomics and proteomics to improve crop yield and quality.
  • Bioinformatics in public health: exploring the potential of bioinformatics in pandemic management: applications and challenges.

Overall, the workshop aims to provide a forum for stakeholders from academia, industry, government, and civil society to exchange ideas and perspectives on the societal implications of bioinformatics research and applications.
